Description

"Chasen" is the Japanese name for a whisk used in tea ceremonies to prepare matcha.

The whisk allows to mix matcha powder, water, and air into a nice frothy beverage, releasing aromas and essences in the foam on the surface.

H. approx. 4.3 inches (11 cm)

The holder and matcha spoon are not included.

Instructions

Simply whisk the matcha back and forth, not in a circular motion but in a zigzag pattern. Keep whisking for 15-20 seconds. If you like more foam, whisk more. You can also re-whisk your matcha a second time after drinking half.

Be careful not to move the whisk too roughly across the base of the bowl and do not press it against the base too forcefully. Use only clear water to clean your bamboo whisk; do not use soap because this could ruin the taste when you use it next time; lightly shake off the excess water after rinsing; do not "stand up" to dry - water can accumulate in the handle, which can cause cracks and mold. Preferably, let air dry on a special whisk holder.

Tip

Steeping the bristles of the whisk in warm water for about 10-20 minutes before first-time use will allow them to soak up the water and soften, making it easier to make matcha.
